Welsh Senior League - for athletes under17 and up

Reminder that the Welsh Senior League commences this weekend in Cardiff (Leckwith).  Entries for this are a little different to the Junior Leagues.  Download the entry card from the WA website (see link below) and pay your £5 entry fee at the registration desk on the day.  Please make sure you get a receipt so that your entry fee can be refunded.  Please check the timetable as not all events are available at every league and make sure you get there in plenty of time to enter as it gets quite busy!  Any parents who are available to help officiate...please let Ruth, Lyn or myself know!

Competition Timetable

The events calendar has now been updated with all of the league dates - both Welsh Junior League and YDL (Lower and upper).  Availability declarations will be sent out via email for these in due course.  Please put these dates in your diary's as they are team events.  We just missed out on being promoted in the YDL (Lower) last year, by a couple of points, so it just goes to show how important it is to have a full team at ALL events!!

There are also plenty of open competions on the event calendar, follow the link to the hosting club's website for entry details.

RVAC on Tour!

On the weekend of the 19th/20th August a small group of athletes, coaches and volunteers descended upon Wrexham for the Welsh Junior Championships!   The sun shone (mostly) and a fantastic weekend was had by all and many memories were made!  A big well done goes out to all the athletes who made the 250 mile round-trip up to the top of Wales for the 2 days of competition!  Many athletes came away with PB's and some of our athletes made their stamp with Iwan Rees crowned as U15 High Jump and Hurdles champion and Long Jump bronze medallist!  Ben Mattey showed his strength in the sprints winning the gold in the u15 300m race and silver in the 200m!  Toks Akanbi-Mortimer walked away as U13 Hurdles and Discus champion with a silver medal to add in the U13 Long Jump competition and bronze medals in the U13 High Jump and Shot Put competitions!  Some of our athletes also came very close to medals with George Powell and Caitlin Seaborne just outside of the medals in the Long Jump and Shot Put competitions by a couple of centimetres.  A huge THANK YOU goes out to all the coaches for all their hard work preparing the athletes for this competition, especially those who made the journey up to Wrexham.  Well done to all the officials who gave up their time over the course of the weekend also!  It really was a fantastic first tour for our RVAC athletes and we definitely painted the North red and let them know who we were!!
